Our Story Starts from…
Our story begins with a question: how can the material traces of art, its textures, pigments, metals, and fabrics, speak across time?
Founded in Austin, Texas, Atelier Sillage LLC grew out of a long-standing fascination with the sensory and historical dimensions of artworks. Trained in art history, founder Shan Hsiao approaches visual culture as both research and practice, blending archival study, material analysis, and creative reconstruction.
What began as an inquiry into the “silent” materials of art has developed into a broader public humanities initiative. Atelier Sillage collaborates with museums, galleries, and academic institutions to translate research into workshops, exhibition projects, and limited-edition objects that invite audiences to touch history—to feel how craft, culture, and memory persist through material form.
Our work reimagines how the humanities can be experienced: not only through words or images, but through objects that embody the tactile and emotional legacies of the past.
